and providing opportunities for female advancement in the film industry.

Here is a list of a few great resources for creative heads 

and various departments 

working within film or 


WIFT Women in Film and Television (Toronto) is a member-based organization of women and men working in screen-based media that supports the development and advancement of women in the industry.

DGC The Directors Guild of Canada is a national labour organization that represents over 4,800 key creative and logistical personnel in the screen-based industry covering all areas of direction, design, production and editing.

CSC The Canadian Society of Cinematographers is a non-profit organization. Visit our website for additional information on our society, links to past issues of Canadian Cinematographer magazine, upcoming workshop schedules and more. Our office is located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada



ICFC The International Collective of Female Cinematographers is a collective of professional female cinematographers from around the world, who provide each other with community support and industry advocacy.

The Director List The Director List is a list of 1000+ (and growing) female directors with demonstrable experience in features, tv, and/or large scale commercials and music videos. 

BIPOC TV & Film BIPOC TV & Film is a grassroots organization and collective of Black, Indigenous and People of Colour in Canada's TV and film industry.

Film in Colour Film in Colour is a tool for Canadian filmmakers who identify as visible minorities.

Production Designers United Production Designers United  is an initiative to promote our award-winning and world-class production designers that have worked in Canada, across the United States, Europe, the UK, Australia and South Africa. 

Art Departmental Art Departmental is a website dedicated to the art and craft of production design for film and television.

Production Designers Collective Production Designers Collective is a group of colleagues dedicated to mutual support through sharing knowledge, encouragement and experience. 


CAFTCAD The Canadian Alliance of Film & Television Costume Arts & Design is a collective with a desire to bring together costume professionals from all corners of the industry, regardless of union affiliation.

WGC Writers Guild of Canada is a professional association of more than 2,300 screenwriters behind Canadian TV shows, movies and web series. 


FEM Script Lab FEM Script Lab is a writing lab for female and non-binary screenwriters in Toronto, held at The Theatre Centre. 

EQL The EQL directory amplifies women working behind the scenes in audio and music production.


SIM Sim International is a leading supplier of production equipment, workflow/dailies and post-production solutions


WFW William F. Whites International Inc. host several workshops, seminars and events all focused on different equipment and production topics. 

LIFT The Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto is an artist-run charitable organization dedicated to facilitating excellence in the moving image through media arts education and production resources. 

Film Fatales Film Fatales is a diverse community of women filmmakers who meet regularly to mentor each other, share resources, collaborate on projects and build a supportive environment in which to make their films.

WIDC Women in the Director's Chair is an intensive, hands-on mentorship program providing professional and creative development to mid-career Canadian women directors of screen-based fiction. 

Women on Screen Women on Screen is an organization committed to cultivating a more dynamic and inclusive representation of women in film and television.
