She completed a master’s degree in instumental composition under the direction of Denis Gougeon at the University of Montreal and a 2nd cycle certificate degree in film music at University of Quebec in Montreal. She has written music for over 40 short films and a feature documentary.

She also won 2 SOCAN foundation prizes for best original music for the animation film Area 51 and best original music for the fiction film What's Within in 2018. Recently, she was also selected as a composer at the film music masterclass directed by the oscar winner composer Stephen Warbeck during the International film festival of Aubagne, France in march 2018. She also had the amazing opportunity of beeing selected for the first SESAC SCORE workshop where she was mentored by award winning composers such as Christophe Beck (Ant-man(Marvel), Frozen, The edge of tomorow) and Chris Bacon (Bates Motel, Source code) in july 2018.

After leading a celebrated folk/dream-pop project entitled CADE in Toronto, ON, Kaiya Cade continues her musical pursuits in academia with an MA in Musicology at McGill University, and in composition work for film (documentary, fiction, animation).

The musical awareness and critical ear Kaiya has developed has evolved into a passion for film composition. Creating ethereal and haunting sonic landscapes, Kaiya combines synthetic/electronic sound with the acoustic instrumentation of piano, saxophone, guitar, strings, sound bowls, and percussion, and finishes the musical environment with her characteristic vocal overlaying. She continues to work out of Toronto, Montreal, and London, UK. Her pieces have been featured in the Ryerson University Film Festival and as part of the London (UK) Film School.

I'm a professional musician, singer, and producer based in Montreal. I write and record music with my solo project Petra Glynt. My past film credits include the trailer for Academy-Award nominated feature film Embrace Of The Serpent and the score for Mitchell Stafiej's feature documentary The Devil's Trap.
